ELD’s collects data on the vehicles driving time, resting periods, fuel efficiency and miles driven. Commercial Vehicle Drivers caught without ELDs can expect to be placed out of service for 10 hours, and may have points added to their Compliance, Safety, Accountability program scores and could even be written a ticket, according to Transport Topics.
Many carriers are relying on mobile applications, such as Trucker Path, for their ELDs. These applications make adhering to the ELD mandate easy and affordable, allowing records and driving data to be obtained digitally rather than relying on traditional paper logbooks.
ELDs are predicted to be the future of transportation technology and aim to unify the way data is recorded among commercial motor vehicles. Learn more about our truckload services.
